If you fly into Geneva, the Christmas market comes to you. Noël au Quai sits on the lakefront, about a ten-minute walk from Cornavin station, with the Jet d'Eau in front of you and, on a clear day, Mont Blanc behind it. It's one of the most scenic markets in Switzerland.

What to expect
Noël au Quai is a row of wooden chalets along the Quai du Mont-Blanc. The focus is on food, drink and evenings out more than crafts, and on Friday and Saturday nights it turns into an open-air bar that stays open until 23:00. On weekdays it opens at noon, which makes it a good lunch stop between sights.
Hours (2026): Monday–Wednesday 12:00–21:00, Thursday until 22:00, Friday 12:00–23:00, Saturday 11:00–23:00, Sunday 11:00–21:00. On December 24 it's open from 12:00 to 16:00.
Make a day of it
- The old town (Vieille Ville): cross the Rhône and walk up to St. Pierre Cathedral. Climb the towers for the view over the lake.
- L'Escalade: Geneva's big local festival in mid-December celebrates a 1602 victory, with parades in costume and chocolate "marmites" (cauldrons) that children smash open. Check the dates for this year. If your trip lines up, don't miss it.
- Montreux Noël: about an hour away by train, with the flying Santa and Santa's house in the mountains.
